Description
By Agustín López Kindler
“Our Christian faith, a vital relationship with God, can turn even cancer into a love story.” These are the inspiring words of Toni Zweifel, born in Verona, Italy in 1938, and who died of leukemia in Zurich in 1989. He was an engineer who had a desire to serve the poor and thus launched a foundation to support development projects around the world. His is a story that shows that it is possible to “work together with God” (2 Cor 6:1) at work, in the family, and in the community.
His vocation to Opus Dei encouraged him to carry out his daily activities full of God's love and transfigure the banality of everyday life. His life, and also his death, offer us an example of the spiritual holiness of a person that is both believable and achievable.
He considered his life "a love story with God," and he left an indelible mark on many hearts. Today people throughout the world ask for his intercession. His beatification process is now underway.
